Signed and numbered EA 3/7 under left wing. With foundry mark Binder Bronsgietery on the bottom. Bronze on stone base, 237 cm incl. base.

Private collection, the Netherlands.
Note:
The “Cat Bird” was Corneille’s final sculpture. Initially, he intended to create a sculpture of a cat, but over time, the cat transformed into a bird. For Corneille, birds symbolised perfect movement. As he once explained: “My movements on the canvas always become birds; the bird is the perfect image of motion.” Even his cat evolved into a flying cat – a catbird.
A monumental version of the work stands in public space in Heerhugowaard since 2001. In 2002, another casting was installed in Amstelveen near the Cobra Museum to mark the artist’s 80th birthday.
