Amsterdam, stad van Rembrandt / Amsterdam, city of Rembrandt (1946)

Beschrijving

On baryta paper, signed in pencil 'Herder' (lower right on the passe-partout) and titled (lower centre on the passe-partout), signed in pencil in the artist's stamp 'Original Print Herder' and stamped 'Dirk de Herder Museum' (on the reverse); framed under passe-partout behind glass. Slightly cockled, minor wear to the edges, several (un)retouched white spots as usual, soft diagonal scratches in the lower centre, else in good condition.

Provenance: Private collection; Kunstcentrum Zaanstad, Zaandam. Notes: In the collection of the Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam. Dirk de Herder was a Dutch artist and photographer, who called himself a 'light artist', since light was his main inspiration and central subject. His refined photographs of Amsterdam have already become classic examples of black and white photography.
