Johan Lennarts became a member of the artists association 'Vrije Expressieven' (Free Expressive) in 1956 and was one of the founders of 'Schijt aan Schilderkunst' (Bollocks to Painting) in 1963, together with JCJ Vanderheyden (q.v.) and Ad Snijders.
