Signed 'Eyck' (lower left); framed. Some hairline scratches in the (upper) centre, one with small losses of paint, else in very good condition. Frame size 72 x 86 cm.
Exhibited: 'Charles Eyck. Schilderen met explosieve handen', Museum De Wieger, Deurne, 21 September 2019 - 12 January 2020. Provenance: Private collection; acquired directly from the artist. Notes: Deaf from an early age, Charles Eyck found his expression in painting and writing. He was a versatile artist, who sculpted, painted ceramics and also made several murals and stained-glass windows for Catholic churches in the Netherlands and France. When commissions for stained-glass windows diminished, Charles Eyck took up painting to depict his native soil Limburg.
