Beschrijving
On canvas, with impasto technique and craquelure effect, located, signed, and dated 'Zwolle G Lataster 90', titled and dated again (on the reverse); framed. Thick paint strokes remain slightly wet and sticky due to the artist's technique, several unobtrusive losses as usual, several brown drips (probably original state), else in good condition. Dimensions: frame size 205 x 145 cm.
Notes: In his later works, in the footsteps of Manet, Monet, Bonnard and Matisse, Ger Lataster seems to concentrate everything in a sensory environment: gardens, landscapes, interiors and studios. These scenes, however, retain the dramatic flair of his earlier works, often evoked by dark, thickly applied paint masses, in which lighter parts play an important role (source: the artist's website).
