Biografie: Jules Van Biesbroeck
Jules Van Biesbroeck jr. was a Belgian Realist painter of figures, landscapes and Orientalist scenery. He was a student in his father's atelier and also received his artistic education at the Academy of Ghent. In 1888, he exhibited at the "Salons des Champs-Elysées" in Paris with his monumental work "Le lancement d'Argos" which caused a huge scandal back then. Van Biesbroeck obtained the prestigious "Prix de Rome" in 1895 and 1898. He visited Northern Africa which led to a brighter use of colours in his palette.
