To be sold with the original portfolio in which the prints were sent to Hendrik Wiegersma.
Condition:
Each lithograph adhered to the support at the upper reverse edge, aside from 'Klassieke tragedie' which is adhered to the passe-partout with paper tape at the reverse edges, sheets timestained, a few foxed and with stains, handling creases in places, a few with tears and nicks at the edges, overall in good condition.
Provenance: Collection Hendrik Wiegersma, Deurne.
Acquired from the above by the present owner.
Notes: De Idealisten I & II were created by Wichman in Italy in 1923. Idealisten II included 107 lithographs with ironic inscriptions which criticise the bourgeois society - journalists, philosophers, intellectuals, poets etc. Many of the lithographs in this set are also included in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the Centraal Museum, Utrecht.
