Beschrijving
Signed (lower right) and numbered '148/150' (lower left), published by Denise René Editeur, Paris (with their blindstamp lower left).
Condition:
Slightly timestained, water stain at the centre right edge, crease to the upper right and lower right corners, paper tape to the reverse edges, overall in good condition.
Notes: Victor Vasarely is the pioneer and the leading artist of the Op Art movement. Op Art is largely based on the theory of visual perception and its often confusing effects known as 'optical illusions'. Repeatable patterns of geometric shapes in vivid colours create impressions of three-dimensional forms. His geometric compositions brought Vasarely immense popularity, expanding far outside the art world. Vasarely's works are held in the collections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, Tate, London, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice.
