Signed and dated 'Jannesdevries '74' (lower left), located 'Palau Sardegna' and dated again (on a card attached to the backing of the frame); framed under cloth passe-partout behind glass in gilded frame. Unexamined out of the frame, very slightly cockled, else apparently in very good condition. Frame size 67 x 80.5 cm.
Provenance: Private collection; private collection; Christie's, Amsterdam, 2011. Notes: Member of the artists association 'De Ploeg', Jannes de Vries stayed true to its principles his entire life. Bold colours and expressionist manner of painting make his style wholly distinctive, even compared to other members of De Ploeg.
