Dark brown patinated bronze with integral base, signed with initials 'HR' (incised on the top of the base). Some white surface grime on the ponytail, minor oxidation in some of the recesses, else in excellent condition.
Provenance: Private collection; Mark Haasnoot Fine Arts, PAN Amsterdam. Notes: Han Rädecker is renowned for his animal statues, especially those of horses and dogs. However, his children portraits and charming female figurines, of which this particular piece is a perfect example, are also of outstanding quality. His sculptures can be found in numerous cities in the Netherlands, such as Amsterdam ('Leda and the Swan' in the Erasmus Park, 'The Rooster and the Snake' in the Westerpark), Amstelveen (Augustinuspark), and Alkmaar.
