On BFK Rives, signed and dated in pencil 'Zao Wou-Ki '63' (lower right) and numbered (lower left); framed under passe-partout behind glass. Unexamined out of the frame, apparently in good condition.
Literature: Ågerup 148. Provenance: Private collection; Kunsthandel Van Munster, Rotterdam, c. 1975. Notes: Works of Zao Wou-Ki from the 1960s mark his turn to abstract, expressive painting, and this is the period when his unique artistic style was formed. The switch was influenced by his trips to New York in the late 1950s, and by such artists as Paul Klee, Franz Kline, and Barnett Newman.
